Approach

How we work with project and equity financiers

We keep the process short, direct and honest about risk. You speak with the partners who run the venture, and you see the downside case before you see a term.

From introduction to documentation

Five steps

  1. Introduction

A short call to understand your mandate and whether a venture fits. We also confirm that you may lawfully receive information about private investments.

  2. Diligence pack

For the venture you choose, we share the operating model, the plan, the intended use of capital and the main risks.

  3. Meet the operators

Where practical, you meet the team and see the site or product. You hear from the people who deliver the work.

  4. Structuring discussion

We discuss how capital would come in, the governance around it and the reporting you would expect.

  5. Documentation and approvals

Legal documents are prepared with counsel and are subject to the approvals each party requires.

How we deal

  • Principals only. The partners accountable for the venture take the conversation.
  • Risk first. We state what could go wrong at the start, not the end.
  • No pressure. We would rather you decline after good diligence than join after a rushed one.
  • Written record. Material points are confirmed in writing.

Risk statement. Private investments are illiquid, may be difficult to value and can lose some or all of their value. Past activity does not indicate future results.

What we look for

The disciplines behind every commitment

Deep due diligence

We analyse market dynamics, competition, management teams and growth potential. We test the numbers against independent sources and record the case against a venture.

Hands-on ownership

We work alongside founding teams on execution, sourcing and strategy. Our partners hold roles inside the venture and answer for its results.

Value creation

We pursue long-term gains through operating improvement, market expansion and disciplined execution.
